The Aoudad is a barbary sheep. Hair fringes best developed in males on forelegs and lower neck. High shoulders with sliping back. Males and females are sandy colored. Their horns are curving and redged and are in both male and female species. Horns never complete a full circle. Male horns normally grow 14 to 26 inches, however, they can get as large as 32 to 36 inches. Female horns grow 12 to 20 inches. Males weight typically 200 lbs and females weight around 140 lbs. They are native to dry, rock outcrops, and mountains. They get most of their moisture from plants. They are competitive and gregarious in nature. They breed in late August to early December with a gestation of 5 months.
